Civil Service Year Book

The Civil Service Year Book (CSYB) is the definitive official reference for central government in the UK providing the most authoritative source of up-to-date information on the Civil Service. It is the essential guide to the work and structure of the Civil Service in the United Kingdom.

What is included in the CSYB?

History of the CSYB

In 1935 the ’British Imperial Calendar and Civil Service List’ was first published by HMSO. It was subsequently renamed the ’Civil Service Year Book’ in 1974. It was produced on an annual basis at first, but changes in the Civil Service meant that the content became rapidly out of date so it is now published twice a year as a printed directory and online.

How do I obtain a copy of the CSYB?

You can order a copy or subscribe to the CSYB (an annual subscription covering two issues per year) from the CSYB website.
